- As many businesses and everyday people now depend on the Internet for numerous things, DDOS attacks risk web-based applications as well as services.
- Additionally, other industries such as healthcare and medically related businesses have continued to now depend on the Internet for private information, so cyber attackers today have a wide range of who they can attack next.
- Solutions to DDOS attacks include the two points listed below.
- Firewalls have been the first line of defense for numerous years and they provide protection by monitoring incoming and outgoing network traffic and decides whether to pass or block certain traffic based on a set of specific rules.
- An IPS/IDS are systems implemented into the computer system which detects vulnerability exploits against a target application or computer. Additionally, the IPS system added onto the IDS protection system by now adding the ability to not only detect, but block incoming threats to the computer or application.

belt shown below the test button to claim your reward!

- Avoid working on sensitive data when you’re using public wifi, rather use the free wifi in order to check the news, or watch a video.
- Some public wifi requires a password, which considers it a semi-open network. These wifi networks are more safe because they are often secured by the SSID that requires you to open the network with to connect to it.
- As public networks are untrusted, you must be careful when using any non-secured network, which might give your device a virus.

- When someone first sets up a wifi network, the name usually has the system’s name such as NetGear or Linksys.
- This makes it easier for other online hackers and attackers to find the system network that someone uses.
- To avoid this problem, one should use a personalized moniker and change the network name.
- Although this is a no-brainer, people often forget to setup a wifi network encryption which makes it extremely dangerous for the owner.
- By using an encryption with a difficult password will help defend against online hackers.
- Be sure to make the password something difficult to remember for other people, while using symbols and numbers to make it harder for hackers to decode.
- Most wireless routers have a built in firewall which people can activate when they first set it up.
- Make sure to keep the firewall running in order to protect the network as a potential victim of online hacking.
- Always update firewalls and make sure it is running every now and then.
